Who are we? The Capricorn Foundation was established in February 2020 as a non-profit association incorporated under Section 21 and a welfare organisation (WO 499). The Foundation is the Capricorn Group's vehicle for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This follows a thorough review of and research on the best practices on corporate social responsibility and several stakeholder engagements to establish the best medium for the Group's CSR initiatives. The Capricorn Foundation is funded by the Group's Namibian subsidiaries: Capricorn Asset Management, Entrepo and Bank Windhoek, the main contributor. Bank Windhoek's social footprint dates back to 2001, and the bank's efforts have been widely recognised, positively impacting projects in the areas of mainly Job Creation, Entrepreneurship, Education and Health. The Capricorn Group's subsidiaries will continue to support its signature projects in addition to its financial support to the Capricorn Foundation. Our Group’s CSR Vision The Capricorn Foundation aspires to be a Connector of Positive Change by being accountable to ourselves and our stakeholders. It seeks to make an overall positive economic and social impact on society by responsibly investing in sustainable programmes that address national priorities in line with national and Sustainable Development Goals. Our Group’s Definition for CSR For Capricorn Group and its subsidiaries, CSR refers to our Group's sense of responsibility and commitment towards the sustainable development of our communities by integrating social concerns into our business operations. This sense of responsibility helps us to be socially accountable to ourselves and our stakeholders and to minimise any negative effects on society so that we make an overall positive impact.
